Cleo Arevalo
Cleo Arevalo is a conceptual artist working with multimedia to produce videos, prints, ready-made objects, and installations that examine the globalized oppression of the masses. As a native of the US/Mexico border, she stands on a multicultural filter when analyzing the pre-established meanings of language. Her use of relatable images and objects addresses the conditions of labeling that have constructed our experiences and weaponize information. Moreover, revealing a sense of rupture in the validity of the collective meaning we assign to the symbols that influence our individual negotiations in ethics and politics.
