Elizabeth Galvin
Elizabeth Galvin grew up in El Paso, Texas, during the Second World War. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism because her father insisted she learn a practical skill, but her true love was art. After graduation, while working doing door-to-door social work in the city’s neglected neighborhoods she attended classes at the Chicago Art Institute. She returned to El Paso and has been creating art, daily, ever since. Elizabeth’s art has been widely exhibited in Mexico, and throughout the US. Her work appears in both private and non-profit collections. She is the recipient of several awards including the Purchase Award and the Preston Price Memorial award at the El Paso International Museum. “I see a blank canvas as a chance to venture into an unknown and mysterious world where anything can happen and anyone can appear,” says Elizabeth. “I start with a familiar environment and let the other creatures start to float in and eventually something interesting starts to happen.”
